2003 ICARIA Cabernet
Sauvignon Alexander Valley
EXCELLENT!
BEST WINE!
- Colorado Wine News, April-June 2007 Volume 17., No.1, Managing
Editor: Harold J. Baer
The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley $28 has inviting aromas of
currant, blackberry, black cherry, leather, tobacco, dark chocolate, and sweet,
smoky oak. All continue as flavors laced with nice bright acidity and
fine grained tannin and carry through the long, medium-broad finish. Easily
drinkable now, it will be even better with a three to five more years in the
bottle to develop and open and has the structure and balance to drink well
for a decade. This is not a blockbuster, super ripe, heavily extracted
wine but is styled to go on the table with a meal. Bargain priced.
Icaria also has some Petite Sirah and Zinfandel which are
still in the barrels and which, based upon barrel samples,
promise to be every bit as good as the Cabernet. If you
cannot find Icaria wine locally, the winery will ship: www.icariawinery.com

The Colorado Wine News
April-June 2004 Volume 14, No.2 "Icaria Creek Winery makes
only elegantly structured and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with alcohol
in the low 13% range from estate hillside vineyards located in the
Alexander Valley about one-half way between Asti and Cloverdale.
The only regret is that they don’t make more." (Read
